1 Year Post Op Lap Band: My Journey Photo Essay

Well gang 52 weeks ago tonight was the eve of my Lap Band Surgery. The actual surgery date was Monday, March 23, 2009. On the day of Surgery I weighed in at 236. I lost 8 lbs on the 1 week Pre Op Diet. My Start Weight was 244 lbs. I am 5′10″ tall and my BMI was 35. The last 52 weeks have been scary, exciting, challenging, rewarding, honest, hard, tough and worth it! I am very happy that I made the decision to change my life and buy myself the Lap Band. I have not spent $15,000 on anything other than my Car and my Education and now the Lap Band. This money was well spent. The Lap Band is the tool that I needed to see my weight loss dreams through to reality. I still have 24 lbs to hit my goal and then the work of maintenance will get started. I am determined and I will get to 145 lbs and stay there. I know I can do this. 52 weeks ago I was not sure, but now, I know I can. Your support, wisdom, encouragement, guidance and selflessness to make videos of your journey’s have been the foundation for me making it through each and every day. I consider all to be very special and wonderful people who seriously have touched my life. I can not say thank you enough. My house is yours and I hope that I can continue to share my journey and help you along the way. Thank you. Word/Phrases to live by: Onward! Yes, that’s a girl singing. Yes, that’s the sound of rock and roll, whiskey and cigarettes. Yes, that’s the sound of your arm in a bear trap, a jaguar in a top hat and a shark with a baseball bat.

Foreplay/Long Time (Jon’s One Man Band Boston Cover)

NEWS UPDATE: Jon is touring with Funk Vigilante in July. For dates/cities: http://www.funkvigilante.com.

This video: A cover version of Boston’s “Foreplay/Long Time” presented in split screen. Jon Baglo playing all the instruments. Spencer Needham doing all the bg vocals. And featuring the amazing David Steele on lead vocal.
Here’s David’s web site:

http://www.e-session-singer.com/

Note re: the drums… You’re hearing take two… a continuous performance with no punch-ins or fixes. Unfortunately, I could not be there to videotape it. So Jon did ONE more take just for the video camera. Hence the discrepancies . I’d say 3 or 4 mismatches during a re-enactment of over 7.5 minutes of drumming is pretty good.

Recording engineer: Jon Baglo.
Mix engineer: Dale Baglo.
Steadicam & video editing: Dale Baglo.

Jon is forming a band: “Subject Zero”

Rock Band – I Get By Expert Drums (Sskitzzo vs. Calimist)

READ THIS FIRST:

people are asking me the same questions over and over, so reading this should help answer a lot of the generic ones. Still, I appreciate the comments/views and stuff, don’t get me wrong.

Check out the rest of my videos if you want to. I do music videos for a part-time-professional job, so that’s what most of my work on here is.

So calimist here, a pretty solid RB drummer in his own right (he’s ranked around 14th on the leaderboards overall if I remember right), suggested the whole split-screen, online battle idea.

A few things though: I direct-captured the footage of us playing, which is why his notechart is so damned transparent compared to mine: I wish there was something I could do about that, but aside from keeping both the bars at the bottom of the screen visible, there’s really not much I can do.

The silver icon on calimist’s side means he’s beaten endless setlist, something i’ll do as soon as I get a solid set haha.

Speaking of solid sets, too: both mine and calimist’s sets aren’t even close to being in great condition, as you can clearly see one of us (if not both of us) get pad misses randomly. So in all of these versus videos, the scores we’re getting aren’t our best scores, haha

And yeah, my fills suck bad in versus videos because i’m having to concentrate, and I can’t do multiple takes of the same song, etc.

The reason I have socks with rubber bands on my drum heads is for increased sensitivity and lowered double-hits: details about it can be found here: http://rockband.scorehero.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3807

(my gamertag = sskitzzo)

And yes, I play drums in real life, have been for 4+ years, so the people going on about “play a real instrument”, no, sorry, I do play real drums.

Not trying to be a dick with all this, just informing people so they don’t keep on saying the same stuff, haha, but don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the comments.
